To all those that celebrate it:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Just testing out my marquee skills for next year :D

I hope you all had a wonderful time and celebrated the day (or not) in a way that brought you joy.

This is the last check in for the year. If you have time, please check in and let us know how you are going. I expect that very few of us got any writing done, but it is always good to hear from you.

It will be 2014 by the time I post the next check in. So if you want help with accountability for goals, now is the time to let us know what those goals are.

I hope that the new year treats you all kindly and brings lots of books and inspiration.

Hi all!

If there's anyone who participated in the Talechasing anthology who hasn't received their copy, please check in and let me know.

The challenge for 2014 is evolving into something a little more open. Please check out the comments regarding this topic and share your thoughts.

Not much of the year left to go!

Hi all!

Those of you who participated in the Talechasing anthology should have received a lovely surprise in your mail box this week. If you haven't, please let me know in the comments below.

Also, I would also love to hear from those of you planning to work on novels next year instead of, or in addition to, the short story challenges. Are you interested in a monthly check in regarding your goals and progress?

Hey all!

The poll results are in for the 2014 short story challenges. We will be featuring the themes of ocean/sky/mountain/city and the word limit will be 10 000 words.

It has also come to my attention that these challenges don't allow space for those of us intending to spend next year focusing on novels. Would it be helpful to have some kind of space for novel writers to post their own goals and be kept accountable? I'd love to hear thoughts in the comments.

Hey all!

I believe most of you have already seen this, but if you haven't please go and vote on themes and word counts for next year's writing challenges and critiquing circle. I'll be leaving the poll up for another week before finalising the results.

Also, for those that are unaware, there is a private Talechasing group on Facebook. It was set up some time ago and at the moment is only used to notify members when these check-ins are posted. However, if you'd like to join, contact me privately.

Hey all!

A big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] annarti for answering [livejournal.com profile] ladylight's emergency distress beacon at the start of the week and agreeing to format the Talechasing book. It is very sincerely appreciated.

Also, for those of you that haven't seen it, [livejournal.com profile] ladylight has posted a review of the writing program Scrivener.

I've not set aside a thread this week for future Talechasing projects or personal writing goals, but if you've got something to share in relation to these topics please go right ahead!

Hi everyone!

I actually don't have any reminders this week, though there are a few bits of news.

Firstly, congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] annarti who smashed through her WIP list and finished the last one this week. What an amazing effort!

Secondly, Axis players should know that I am officially withdrawing. My apologies to you all once again.

Discussions continue below about future Talechasing projects.

Also November begins (in Australia, at any rate) the day before I'll be posting next week's check in. So to those participating in any kind of NaNo or November Project effort, good luck!

Hi everyone!

Usual reminders:

Those working on anthology pieces should no longer be working on anthology pieces and should be celebrating instead, since the final deadline has passed! Yay!

With the bulk of this project complete (unless you're [livejournal.com profile] ladylight), we have some space to start considering any future projects, challenges or goals we'd like to tackle as a community. One popular suggestion has been to post a writing prompt every three months. Participants have 2 months to complete their story. The third month will involve a formal critiquing circle for those interested. Those seeking to have their stories critiqued will be required to critique all of the other stories for that round. Favourites may be compiled into a publicly-available e-book.

Another suggestion was a Talechasing gathering to take place probably in Australia at some future (and likely distant) date.

All thoughts and opinions on these possibilities would be very welcome, as would suggestions on further projects.

Hi everyone!

Usual reminders:

Those working on anthology pieces are reminded that the deadline for the final, edited piece is 14 October. That is this Monday. Also, if you haven't yet supplied a bio please make sure that is ready as well (though I think everyone has this covered).

Hi everyone!

First, I'd like to offer a warm welcome to [livejournal.com profile] little_lynnet. Feel free to check in as regularly or infrequently as you like :)

Secondly, congratulations to all our members who made the deadline for the Talechasing anthology. I'd urge you all to take the time to celebrate this massive achievement, especially since I know that for many of us this is the first piece we've finished in a very long time. Also, a reminder that the deadline for the final, edited piece is 14 October.

Lastly, I want to let Axis players know that I hope to resume play in the next week or two. I'm not sure of the exact date yet, as I have some fairly hefty editing commitments at the moment. However, I hope it will be sooner rather than later. Please watch this space.

Hi everyone!

Yep, it's that time of the week again. You know what to do.

Also, a warm welcome back to [livejournal.com profile] nihiriki! Feel free to check in as often or as little as you like.

Hi everyone!

We're at that point of the year when I realise that we have a little over three months left. We're coming up to the last quarter. This inevitably reminds me that I have goals for the year and very little time left to finish them. So I thought I'd share the love around and ask: Did you have goals this year? How are you faring with them? Have you had any thoughts about what you'd like to do in 2014?

This applies to the group as much as the individual. For most of us, September marks the end of our hard work on the Talechasing anthology. What projects would you like to see the group tackle next? Would anyone like to see a return of the monthly prompt challenges? What might stretch you as a writer?

Also a gentle reminder that National Novel Writing Month is not far away. Do you plan to participate? If the official challenge is not for you, are you considering adapting it into something that does?

While we're on reminders:

Axis players should be aware that I have proposed a hiatus on play until October. Please check the general chat thread for more info.

Those signed up for the Talechasing anthology are reminded to check in regarding your progress, if you haven't already done so. [livejournal.com profile] ladylight has also put out a request that contributors submit their bio. The final deadline is 1 October.
