Hi everyone!

First off:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO [livejournal.com profile] saiena and [livejournal.com profile] ladylight!!!

I hope you both celebrated in grand style.

An especial congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] saiena on the launch of her first e-book!

If you haven't seen it already, [livejournal.com profile] alintaflame is looking for advice on writing while there are other people around (specifically, significant others). Any help would be much appreciated.

Usual reminders:

Round 1 of the 2014 Talechasing short story challenge and critiquing circle is now open. The deadline is April 1 and the totally optional theme is "Ocean". If you plan to participate, please make sure you check out A Critical Discussion of Criticism (if you haven't already).

If there are concrete goals you want to be kept accountable for, please let me know. I hope those of you who have already nominated goals will check in and let us know how you are going... else, be prepared to deal with an orc raiding party :)

I am glad to hear that you had a more relaxing week. It sounds like you are partying way too hard now, so stop that :P

*grin* Binge reading... that sounds terribly familiar! ^_^

*snug* I'm glad you're feeling better.

My week has been ... I can't really recall. Work hasn't been terribly horrific, but I think I'm still in so much sleep/me-time debt that I've reached the autopilot stage. Also, I've had the two leads from my Black Narcissus story rattling around in my head all week and it's ... somewhat distracting.

Good things this week: talking to [livejournal.com profile] little_lynnet lots, which is utterly lovely; started my brothers already much-belated birthday present (thrum mittens), which is fun but like simultaneously wrestling a ball of string and a cloud; started reading MCA Hogarth's Mindtouch, which is like nothing I've read before but very compelling and beautiful. (Erm... I was up til 2:45am this morning ... this is becoming a recurrent problem. Evidently, in the absence of parental restrictions on bedtimes, I am unable to control my book-addict nature. Or perhaps I'm just subconsciously trying to make up for all the years of undergrad when my reading just ... vanished. Anyway, it's back with a vengeance now...)

*grin* My husband does tell me off, yes. But he is a natural night owl with a gaming habit, so often he doesn't notice until it's too late... ^_^

Book binge totally and absolutely describes my last few weeks. *grin* I gave in and took the day off today. (Or, rather, technically, I'm working a four day week this week as I did a six day one last week and the week before. Try telling the guilt that...) I'm feeling much better today. Somehow, I guess the me-time debt was more urgent than the sleep one. Now that I'm less in me-time debt, I can start to assuage the sleep... *zzzz*

This week has been one of those weeks were people just seem to be extra-special stupid. Hopefully whatever was in the water this week will be gone by next week...or there will be punching and yelling.

Those weeks are so frustrating. *snugs* Hope things improve!

I ... may have got through enough research to start writing the Black Narcissus story without horrifically screwing it up. We shall see...

I've been reading MCA Hogarth's Mindtouch and Mindline. Oh. My. Word. It is exceptional writing.

Well, I can't say anything for her other books (you'd best ask [livejournal.com profile] little_lynnet for that), but I can say that Mindtouch and Mindline are just ... gorgeous. And I say this as someone who is usually ticked off by any number of things that feature in those books, first and foremost the sci fi.

That said, they aren't really sci fi. IMO, Mindtouch is a romance and so is the last third of Mindline. That is, really, what is so lovely about them - they are one of the best romances I've read and ... it is just. Adorable. Sweet. Compelling. Powerful. *ee* Great!
