Hi everyone!

Usual reminders:

Round 1 of the 2014 Talechasing short story challenge and critiquing circle is now open. The deadline is April 1 and the totally optional theme is "Ocean". If you plan to participate, please make sure you check out A Critical Discussion of Criticism (if you haven't already).

If there are concrete goals you want to be kept accountable for, please let me know. I hope those of you who have already nominated goals will check in and let us know how you are going... else, be prepared to deal with an orc raiding party :)

Glad you're feeling better. Catching up with friends sounds like a lovely thing to happen in a week. ^_^

This week, I have worked and survived it. TBH, that's pretty good going, all things considered. ;)

I moved, a whole state and to the other side of the country!

Now living in Queensland and enjoying Australia Day. Some how my husband and I did not bite each other's heads off.

Glad to hear the move seems to have gone well and that you and your husband didn't bite each other's heads off. That's always a good thing.

I hope you're both settling into the new home easily!

I haven't been up to much this week at all. I've quite enjoyed the long weekend and have mostly used it to catch up on personal writing and reconnect with my family after leaving them behind for my holiday.

Another 'meh' week, with some bad news for several friends and acquaintances, unfortunately. I'm looking forward to things improving again! On the bright side, I managed to restrain myself despite the January mall sales offering temptation at every turn. Hopefully my ankle's all better now and I'll be able to go on my lunchtime walks again.

My cousin was married this weekend, and it was a very lovely wedding. I think one of the highlights was the pastor and his wife taking over the dance floor with a very energetic jive dance. They were sliding, flipping and high kicking all over the place. It was quite entertaining!

I have a short snippet (http://paantha.livejournal.com/98660.html), if anyone wants to read. No obligations, though. And it's not part of the Talechasing short story challenge, just a bit of randomness.

I have made my six chapters for That Novel! (Well, admittedly, only if you count rewriting the chapters I'd finished previously. Otherwise I've still got one to go.)

Two more scenes (and one chapter) and I shall have made my goal by whatever way you want to count it. Soon it'll be time to adjust! :O

I kind of lost track this week (taking down word counts for notes is a bit hard), but I'm confident I did manage the 300 words goal every day. I did story-writing on Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday, and note-taking the rest of the time. I even sat down and...outlined - at least, the stuff I already have. The outline's been strangely useful (maybe they only work after one is done writing, or in the middle of writing? 0_o). I was able to see several holes in the beginning where I thought I had to write transitions, but it turns out what I'm really missing is entire scenes. I also see one reason why I'm stuck: I haven't referred to a plot thread that I introduced right at the beginning in way too long, but this plot thread will have an effect on the main characters' actions. Next, er, this week, I'll have to try to decide what exactly happens in that plot thread, and one other. My biggest headache with regards to this is geography-related. Everyone is too far apart! I wonder if it's too late to dry up an ocean, merge three continents together and move an entire province north?? Just kidding. Sort of.

I have finally cobbled together some sort of a summary of for my novel, found here: A brief summary of an unnamed novel (http://exoeternity.livejournal.com/3096.html)

If anybody has time, I would love some opinions on it. I feel it needs to be objectively evaluated (read: roughed up) before I will feel ready to start writing.

I really enjoyed this post to the NaNoWriMo tumblr. http://moiwren.tumblr.com/post/74220730583/a-7-step-guide-to-big-picture-revision-with-bonus

Reposted it to my dash so that I can keep it and read through it with more leisure. I am a visual person so using numbers and colours sounds like it will work well for me.
